Vintage Japanese Sōsaku Kokeshi – "Samurai Boy / Wakawashu" by Kikuchi Shukō (12cm)

Add a unique piece of Mid-Century Japanese craftsmanship to your collection with this vintage Sōsaku (Creative) Kokeshi doll by renowned craftsman Kikuchi Shukō. Standing at 12cm tall, this character figure features a delightful "nodding" (kubi-furi) head mechanism that gently bobs back and forth when touched.

The doll depicts a traditional young samurai dressed in formal attire, complete with a topknot haircut (chonmage), a black crest-adorned outer jacket (montsuki haori), and neatly pinstriped hakama trousers. Painted with delicate line work, the figure carries a folding fan tucked into his waistband. The underside of the base features the hand-written signature (sain) and red seal stamp (hanko) of the artist.
