Kokeshi -Mid Century Modern Design

This elegant vintage kokeshi stands 21cm tall and in beautiful condition. It does not have an artist's signature but is very similar to two other kokeshi with signatures.

The doll features a striking elongated form, with a rounded head delicately hand-painted with serene, childlike features. The slim neck flows into a beautifully shaped body, decorated with a hand painted  fine horizontal linework that adds rhythm and texture. The natural grain of the wood shows through, highlighting the artisan’s appreciation for organic materials.

A wonderful example of mid-20th century creative (sōsaku) kokeshi craftsmanship, this piece embodies both simplicity and refinement, with a quiet sense of balance and grace.
