VINTAGE CAMELLIA KOKESHI DOLL

This style of vintage kokeshi doll pops up now and then in varying sizes. This doll was sold during the Camellia festival at Izu Oshima. Izu Oshima is a volcanic island near Tokyo, which featured in many of the old Godzilla films. Every winter, over three million bold pink camellia flowers bloom across Izu Oshima. During February and March, locals hold a camellia festival to celebrate.
This doll is in excellent condition. She is 21cm tall with no dents or bad markings. She has a noddy head dating her 1950's-60's
