The doll celebrates the Japanese accomplishments in textile design. The artist’s use of an angelic face, is sensitively detailed and extremely expressive. This kokeshi has a lovely flower design. Burning techniques were used to decorate this doll.
Yoshio-san was born in 1936 and an accomplished artist & woodworker. He won numerous awards including the coveted award of the Prime Minister, and the Japan Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture design.
This kokeshi is 23cm tall in very good condition with artist's hanko sticker on the bottom. This style was produced in the early 1980's.
