VINTAGE KOKESHI BY WATANABE MASAO

Watanabe is one of the most popular and prolific of the 20th century Sosaku Kokeshi artists, he began his craft in the early 1950s. A multiple award winner in Kokeshi competitions around the world along with numerous prizes by the Modern Kokeshi Artist Association. His works are permanently exhibited at the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany. 

This big vintage kokeshi is 30cm tall with beautiful hand painted detail in deep reds and charcoal on the light coloured wood. 

Excellent condition with artist signature on the bottom..
