Vintage Oshin Kokeshi Doll- 1950's

This beautifully hand painted vintage Sosaku Kokeshi captures the tender bond between mother and child. Depicting an Oshin—the devoted caretaker central to Japanese family life—this piece reflects both emotional depth and elegant simplicity.

She is 16cm tall and in beautiful condition considering her age. She has a noddy head which dates it to late 1950's. Her head scarf and hair detail are beautifully hand painted and her original kanzashi remains in situ. Her apron is also beautifully hand painted and her baby on her back is in the style of a traditional kokeshi.
